Our future First Lady doesn't need to live in the White House to help fix our country and steal our hearts! In fact, Melania's chosen to tackle issues that set her apart from the others: cyberbullying and putting America's children first.
"Our culture has gotten too mean and too rough, especially to children and teenagers," she said during a campaign speech in Pennsylvania. "It is never OK when a 12-year-old girl or boy is mocked, bullied or attacked … It is absolutely unacceptable when it is done by someone with no name hiding on the internet."
Melania knows that using a screen as a protective shield is dividing our country and setting a horrible example for the younger generation, as it's a critical factor that can negatively impact one's mental health. And those who engage in bullying at a young age are more likely to participate in violent behavior as adults.
"As adults, many of us are able to handle mean words — even lies," she said. "Children and teenagers can be fragile. They hurt when they are made fun of or made to feel less in looks or intelligence. This makes their life hard and forces them to hide and retreat. Our culture has gotten too mean and too rough especially to children and to teenagers."
Melania's solution to help resolve this issue is for everyone to find a new way to express disagreements, a path that doesn't lead to harm. And we completely agree with her!
"We must find better ways to honor and support the basic goodness of our children, especially in social media," she said.
And because she's aware that suddenly changing schools in the middle of the school year can be an incredibly difficult time for children, Melania has made the remarkably admirable decision to stay in New York City with 10-year-old Barron - at least until the end of the school year.
"Barron is the priority for now and he needs me at this age," she said in an interview with US Weekly. "He needs a parent at home, and I like to keep it as normal as possible."
After all, switching schools on the fly could bring about more harm than good for the Trumps' youngest son. And at such a young age, it's crucial to have constant support.
With these plans in mind, Melania has proven how important the role of a mother is and how crucial it is that we must come together to combat bullying! This is what every FLOTUS should stand by to mold a better America, and we have no doubt that Melania will succeed!
